Albuquerque, New Mexico – Sutin, Thayer & Browne has been designated a “Green Office” for its leadership in sustainability and efficient operations. The firm received the award after a months-long certification process evaluating the firm’s practices in seven areas.
The “Green Office” designation is available to companies which voluntarily choose to participate and commit to sustainable initiatives in several areas of office management, including recycling, document management, information technology, and facility maintenance. Sutin began the review process with Hines in 2010.
In announcing the award, Hines noted that, among other initiatives, Sutin has chosen low VOC emitting paints and materials during remodel and maintenance of its Albuquerque office, chooses Energy Star certified electronic products and increased the use of electronic documents and video-conferencing to facilitate meetings in lieu of travel. The firm also maintains an ongoing document recycling program and works with vendors to purchase environmentally friendly supplies.
“Being environmentally responsible is resonant with who we are as a firm,” says Sutin CEO Jay Rosenblum. “In today’s world, making environmentally responsible choices are just as important to our ethical identity as every other business decision we make. It is simply the right thing to do.”
As a part of the certification process, Sutin worked to improve business practices across all areas of office operations in order to achieve at least 70 “leaf point” credits. The firm exceeded those requirements and obtained 82. The certification process and award are overseen by Hines, LLC an international property management company who manages the firm’s Two Park Square Albuquerque office.
