Healthcare Practice Recognized by ABA

November 29, 2022

For the fourth year in a row, Sutin, Thayer & Browne has been recognized by the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section in its annual Regional Law Firm Recognition List. The firm tied for 7th in the West region, an area comprising Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

“It is a genuine honor to be included in this list with so many other firms that are committed to serving the legal needs of the healthcare industry,” notes Deborah E. Mann, shareholder and head of the Sutin, Thayer & Browne Health Law practice. “The Health Law Section provides valuable contacts and timely updates that help us better serve our clients. We value and appreciate our relationship with the Health Law Section and its members.”

Eight attorneys work in the Sutin healthcare law team; two of these (Deb Mann and Jesse D. Hale) focus almost exclusively in healthcare law, serving as the practice’s core. A third, David H. Johnson, limits his practice to consulting on healthcare matters with his Sutin colleagues, providing a direct benefit to both clients and the Firm. Collectively, they have more than six decades of experience representing healthcare clients and have been recognized for their expertise by their peers and clients alike. Because David remains in a consultative role, he is able to expedite legal research and offer the Firm’s other lawyers access to his wealth of contacts within the health care law industry across the nation.

Mann was named Albuquerque’s Healthcare Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America in 2021. That same year, she was appointed by the New Mexico Supreme Court to the Ad Hoc Committee to Review the Operation of the New Mexico Medical Review Commission and the Medical Malpractice Act.

Hale currently serves as Co-Chair of the Membership Committee of the ABA’s Health Law Section and has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch in Health Care Law. He is a frequent speaker on health law issues, most recently as panel moderator and presenter at the ABA’s Physicians Legal Issues: Healthcare Delivery and Innovations Conference in September of this year.

Johnson was named Albuquerque Healthcare Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America in 2015, 2020, and 2022.
