KARA J. JOHNSON is a seasoned litigator with experience in complex trial litigation and/or administrative proceedings in the areas of domestic violence/domestic relations, housing law, public benefits, immigration, and judicial disciplinary cases. Prior to joining Sutin, Kara served as Volunteer Attorney and Outreach Attorney for a number of domestic violence shelters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and Staff Attorney with both New Mexico Legal Aid and Legal Aid of North West Texas. After working for more than four years at Legal Aid of North West Texas as Staff Attorney, she was promoted to a Managing Attorney position. She returned to New Mexico Legal Aid as Staff Attorney and most recently served as Investigative Trial Counsel for the New Mexico Judicial Standards Committee.

Kara received her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan School of Law, where she won a Public Service Award and served as Outreach Chair for the Black Law Students Association.
