Eddie is a member of Sutin’s board of directors and firm Treasurer. He represents private companies in securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, reorganizations, state tax matters, and general corporate matters. In addition, his practice includes advising private sector clients on state tax abatements, including but industrial revenue bonds. Best Lawyers in America named Eddie “Albuquerque Lawyer of the Year” in Securities/Capital Markets Law in 2015, 2019, and 2021.
Jay’s practice includes M&A, business design, corporate and estate work, succession planning, and philanthropic legal matters. In 2017, the State Bar of New Mexico’s Business Law Section honored him as “Business Lawyer of the Year.” He is also a recipient of the Zia Award, a recognition given to distinguished alumni of the University of New Mexico. Jay served as President and CEO of Sutin, Thayer & Browne for eighteen years, from 2000 through 2017. He may be the most senior and experienced corporate lawyer still actively practicing in New Mexico whose primary focus is mergers and acquisitions and related corporate law.
